Palo Alto artist designs Google scarf
Palo Alto, California – September 1, 2019 – Bay Area artist, Melissa Mahoney of MahoneyArtwork.com, designed an all-weather scarf available in 100% luxuriously soft modal fabric for the Google Merchandise Store. The scarf brings together the circular energy of her artwork with the inspiring Google colors.
Mahoney is an abstract painter, and she creates large scale paintings as well as textiles. She is also a licensee of Stanford University’s logo and created silk scarves incorporating their logo and her artwork. These are for sale at the Stanford University Bookstore, online and on campus.
As a licensee of University of Georgia, her alma mater where she earned a BFA, Melissa has created a scarf for UGA. The scarf is available on the UGA campus and through the UGA online bookstore.
With Google, Melissa worked with the Google Merchandise Store team and launched the scarf for sale on
August 2, 2019.
The Google scarf design incorporates Melissa’s artwork with colorful bursts of circular brushstrokes. The format is 74” x 16” on 100% modal, a soft, natural fiber that reproduces the colors perfectly and that drapes well.
This Google scarf is for sale online and at the Google Merchandise Store located at 1981 Landings Drive, Mountain View, California. It is open to the public. Hours of operation: Monday - Friday 10a-6:30p (closed on major holidays). All products are also available for purchase online.
Melissa says, “living near Google headquarters, I see the Google logo all around town. I’m drawn to the cheerful Google colors, so I created a scarf inspired by those colors. My artwork really came to life with this color palette.”
Melissa Mahoney is the artist behind Mahoney Artwork. She is both a painter and a textile designer. She shows her paintings at galleries and also works with agents to show her artwork. For her textiles, she creates scarves for companies and universities to sell at their stores and to share with employees and clients as gifts. Her mission is to create and share engaging artwork and to design products that inspire the viewer. She uses textiles that are sourced responsibly, and she’s a member of the Fair Labor Organization (FLA). In addition, the Google scarf California Prop 65 compliant, which tests for harmful chemicals in the fabrics and dyes.
