Bloom Series

Bloom Two | 30” x 30” | acrylic on raw linen

In the Spring of 2021, the air felt a little lighter and the colors appeared a little brighter, as the Covid-19 restrictions started to loosen. I found myself wanting to paint with bright colors. This Bloom Series is inspired by the fresh, vivid California poppies and large sunflowers. Creating these painting felt replenishing, working in these warm, bold colors and painting outside.

Forest Bathing | 20” diameter each | acrylic on wood panel

Forest bathing (or shinrin-yoku in Japanese) is the practice of being totally immersed in the forest, experiencing it with all of your senses... sound, sight, smell and touch. It’s believed to improve both physical and mental health.

One of the benefits of living in California is the easy access to dramatic and expansive forests and outdoor spaces. Throughout 2020, and especially in the Spring of 2021, I made a point to spend time in nature and immerse myself in it.
