Pacific Inspired — Resilience

18 feet x 10 feet | Acrylic on canvas

I find the Pacific Ocean both calming and turbulent; I’m drawn to all of its energies. It displays a range of colors. From indigo and dark teal at its depth to bright turquoise and blue when the waves are cresting. Its colors and force of nature are captivating to me.

I’m working on my second Pacific Ocean-inspired series. I keep being drawn back to the ocean as a source of inspiration . . . and replenishment.

Pacific Ocean Inspiration

Stinson Beach, California

San Francisco Bay, California

Pescadero, California

Santa Cruz, California

Pacifica, California

Big Sur, California

Big Sur, California

In 2020, while some of the Covid travel restrictions were in place, I was drawn to the ocean. I’m fortunate to live in California, close to the Pacific Ocean.

This painting contains over a year’s worth of Pacific Ocean memories in it . . . and many more years of ocean memories under the surface.

The inspiration comes from both the moment and the memory of being close to the sea. From the Marin Headlands to San Francisco, to Pacifica, to Pescadero, to Santa Cruz, and to Big Sur.

I painted each circle individually, creating an arch.
They are separately together.
